There are a few things worth noting about your Canon camera when using it with your Eyefi card.
Eyefi Connected Cameras
Certain Eyefi Connected cameras disable Eyefi Mobi card wireless functionality by default, which prevents your Eyefi Mobi card from wirelessly transferring photos. If your Eyefi Connected camera is failing to transfer photos, check to see if your Eyefi Mobi card's functionality is disabled. - With the Eyefi Card inserted in your camera, press the MENU button
- Go to the first yellow wrench tab
- The last option listed is Eye-Fi settings
- Highlight and press Set
- Select Eye-Fi trans. and select Enable
- Press the MENU button
You can also extend the life of your battery by setting this option to 'Disable' when you are not planning on transferring photos.
In Eyefi Connected Cameras a small WiFi signal will flash when photos are ready to transfer. This is an indication that your camera is sending a signal over to your receiving device.
There is another setting as well that allows you to see the connection information of your card such as the connection status, MAC address and Firmware Version. The MAC address can come in handy when you have multiple cameras/cards in use. On your mobile device, you can see the last 6 digits of your MAC address under your WiFi settings on your mobile device.
Non Eyefi Connected Cameras
In our experience, there are very few Canon cameras that don't work with Eyefi. If your camera does not happen to be Eyefi Connected, simply go through the normal setup options and transfers should start without problems. You can still see the last 6 digits of your MAC address in your WiFi settings on your mobile device.
Shooting RAW, JPG or RAW+JPG
All Mobi cards are capable of capturing RAW and JPG formats. If you have a Mobi Pro card you can also transfer your RAW photos along with your JPGs. You can select the format of your images under the 'Image quality' setting in your camera menu. Depending on the model of your camera the choices might vary. If you have a dual slot camera you have the added benefit of selecting RAW files to go to one card and JPG files to go to the other. Selective & Priority transfer provide a way for you to transfer photos that you 'Write Protect'. Depending on the type of Mobi card you have the transfer of selected photos will vary. Original Mobi cards utilize Priority transfer whereby images that are 'protected' will be transferred before ones that are not. With a Mobi Pro card, photos that are 'protected' are the only photos that will transfer. For Mobi Pro cards this option will have to be enabled using the Desktop application on your PC or Mac. When you are ready to select the images you want, simply access the 'Menu' on your Canon camera and choose the menu setting for Protect Images as shown below. Scroll through your photos and 'protect' the ones you want transferred.
Selected Canon cameras, like the 7D or 5D Mark iii feature a 'RATE' button you can reprogram into a 'Protect' button which will allow you to protect your photos without having to access any menus. To configure this, access your tool menu option for the 'Rate' button and set it to 'Protect' Once configured, simply view your images and press the 'Rate' button for each one you want transferred by Priority or Selective, depending on your card type.
